OK, so forgive the "Little Shop of Horrors" reference, but this plant has taken over my back yard. A month ago, when I went on vacation, it was only knee high, and as it is affected by sunlight (Heliotropic), I thought that perhaps it was a type of Columbine. I returned home like Seymour, to find a plant that was twice my height and taking over my Rose Bed.

Links to the pictures are below. They were rather large, and as I am new to the board, I didn't want to wait until I could figure out how to shrink them.
    Picture 1
This shows the height of the plant next to my house.
    Picture 2
This shows the plant at daybreak, where you can see that one branch has unfurled, the other is still folded up from the nighttime position. Also, you can see the yellow pods hanging down from the plants.

Can you tell me what it is, and what I have to do to make sure it is gone for good?

    Thank you,

    Dr.G

I'm guessing a Partridge Pea but the plant in your picture doesnt' fit everything of a Partridge Pea.
If I had a unwanted plant in my garden. Cut down most of "it". Wait for a calm day or early in the morning. Spray it with some weed or plant killer. Cover your roses with plastic for protection. Is that the roses in the picture surviving under the "beast" of a weed. When the spray is dry uncover your roses.
This is something I would do but...I'm just someone who likes to garden and learns by trial and error.
If you don't like chemicals. Wet the area real good, wait, and give it a good pull. Hopefully you get root and all.
I'm sure someone will have some other ideas.

Thanks for the ID, saltceder. It was just ripped out of the ground (got most of the roots, which indeed were invasive! I can see why they are known as "Noxious Weed" here in the south!

But I will be on the lookout for return growth and then put some Round Up on it to get the roots, Luv2Grdn. I hope they haven't done too much damage to the Roses. The purple ones, "Simply Marvelous" are a great rose which has done well for me. The other two were test roses which did OK, but not great. I am not a huge fan of chemicals, but I will use them when they are needed.

And thank you for making me feel welcome!
