I found four of these growing in my front yard among the grass and clover. The stalks, including flowers, are about as long as the length of my hand, and appear to come up out of a small tuft of grass. I've never seen them before, but I like them too much to just mow them down.

aka Grape Hyacinth. Mine are up and are blooming well: my mom in NY (Long Island) reports that hers are the best she's had in years.

Great! Thanks! That looks like it... I wonder how they got there..... I have none anywhere else in the yard, and as far as I can tell, neither do my neighbors

You may have squirrels in the moving business...one hobby mine have (when they're taking a break from eating all my tulip buds) is digging up and re-planting my other bulbs.
