Identification: I guessed it was a white chanterelle, but think it's a lookalike ...

    Found these today, on an open, mossy piece of ground that was bathed in sunlight. Near edge of a cliff, with mountain streams nearby.

    Thought it may be a white chanterelle, but it looks a little different than the chanterelles I picked today. For one, the gills (which look to be false, but I'm no expert) don't run down the stem, and the base of the stem is hollow.

    And it smells great.

    Nevermind, found it in my book.

    A fragrant clitocybe, I believe.

    Very beautiful specimins...did you get any photos of these in their habitat by any chance? What did they smell like?....I love the smells of fungi! :o)
