I found a seed pod like the one pictured in the attachments..

    Can anyone tell me what plant it's from? I found these pictures that look just like it. The pod was on the beach in Hawaii and looked like a hard brown woody version of the green ones in one of the pictures. When opened slightly, it has ribs and small seeds like the two pictures where the pods are brown.

    It is one of the most spectacular flowering trees!!

    Back home in Malaysia, we call the trees "Flame of the Forest".

    Although, that name can be confusing, because I have come across 2 other entirely different trees with the same common name, including Butea monosperma
