I bought this plant a few months ago. It's lost a lot of leaves but I moved it to where it will get evening sun and it's showing some new growth (and I've found watering helps...sheesh). I can't remember what it's name is though.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmmm. A really light-deprived Ficus elastica...??? (aka Rubber Tree)

And what lives in the cage...? Looks remarkably similar to my daughter's hedgehog cage. ???

Welcome to the Forum! Worry not...one of us will have this plant ID'ed in half a jiff.

Cordyline, that jogs the memory, knew it started with a C...thanks!

Yeah, had it in a corner where it got zero light *shame, shame* but really, it looks good compared to a month ago. I'm still loosing some of the new leaf growth though, which concerns me.

They're guinea pigs! They're a treat to have - chock full of personality.

True that! A few years back we raised and showed them. Silver agouti, mostly. Distinct personalities! Even now when I get the lettuce from the refrig. I expect to hear the pigs yelling for some!

Ohhh yeah. And even what they IMAGINE TO BE rustling plastic!!! Ours usedta love corn husks, apple cores, strawberries...well, you know. ---We had one whose favorite spot was on top of his plastic home (a turned-over section of long windowsill planter)---reminded me of Snoopy on his doghouse in the prone position.
How many of the fine rodents d'you have?

Not plants this time but G. Pigs. Our Female is named Poo Pig. She's a 1yr old + delightfull addition to our family of two adults and two teenagers and 5 cats. Her living quarters is a smalish, child's travel play pen w/ a lid (due to the cats, they are curious) which appears larger than your cage.
I know nothing of G. pigs and am afraid she's a bit overweight at approx. 2.5 lbs. My G-daughter feeds her Nutriphase Gold G. pig formula and the Gerty variety mix from Pet Smart. She gets one piece of Romain lettuce am and 2 pieces pm. (Or so the pink G-kid says.) In season she can decimate a rose in nothing flat. Double Delight being her favorite and MY Ingrid Berman is 2nd. Dandylions greens fron the garden here and there.
Is she overweight? What should she be eating and how much?......barb

I've got 3 of 'em - still less than a year for all. (I got baby fever, lol). The first one, River, was an Abyssinian, and the second two look like they're hybrids - they lack the really long hair but still have the rosettes. I didn't think of corn husks! We always have salad greens around that we feed them and throw the lettuce core in their cage for a treat. I've got one who was an only child and not really used to other guinea pigs, so she sits on top their little house by herself. The redhead tattles on everybody and the oldest bosses the other two around.

Guineas love to eat - and eat - and eat. I'm not sure if 2.5 lbs is overweight, her diet sounds pretty close to what I feed mine (local petstore's food and greens). If you're concerned, you might consider getting an exercise area for Poo Pig (such a cute name!). We have a loveseat that I keep a cover on and they get to run around on that - when they're done I just shake the cover outside and flip it. Everybody knows that's the guinea pig's couch. I've been looking for something less messy, though - which is really challenging because they're messy critters. I tried the huge plastic ball but the first one never figured out how it worked and the second one, well...she doesn't like it when I talk about it. I thought of a child's playpen but haven't found one yet to try. I have cats too, so I keep a close eye on them when they're 'loose'.

If you still would like to know what you have growing, it is a Cordyline terminalis or Ti plant. Once it becomes too tall, cut into logs and repot each cutting for more plants. Be sure to allow the cuts to dry/heal before repotting.

Thanks for the advice on the cuttings - I have that written down. I had a branch break off a few weeks ago and I threw it away - I didn't think it would regrow. Won't do that again!
