I have these cool orange spots with brown outlines on my newly planted grapevine. I am thinking it is not a good thing? Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Orange spots may mean a fungal disease known as black rot. Fungicidal sprays will control further spread, but will not cure what already has taken place. Keep in mind that some fungicides should not be used, like the sulfur-based types. Especially when the temperature is 85 degrees or more.

Sometimes these spots tend to appear during rain and humidity so you want to be sure to read the directions on the fungicide before applying.

Be sure to prune the vine properly and provide good air circulation. Also try to avoid water splash during irrigation. A combination of these preventative measures should help to control this disease.
