    Hello All,

I need help to identify a certain type of tree. I grew up hearing it called "The Monkey Tree". It has long, prickly looking, monkey tail-like branches. It is an evergreen and does not have leaves. Can anyone help me? Thanks for your help!!! Skeeks

    Hello Skeeks,

I moved your post to the Monkey Puzzle Trees and Relatives forum. When you close this thread you will see lots of posts about the tree. They are often called just monkey trees as well; they were called monkey puzzle because they were a puzzle for monkeys to climb. The tree that is refered to as monkey puzzle and commonly grown in the PNW, where we are, is Araucaria araucana. Sometimes other species are called monkey puzzles. Norfolk Island pines are a type of Araucaria.
