    Hi

I bought a seed pod in a gumball machine in the coffee shop on Salt Spring island. I put the seeds in a newly dug small square garden under a tree on the boulevard in front of my home. There is 4 lavender plants in the patch as well. I thought the pod contained wildflowers, and that I would have some nice plants by next year. But I didn't get flowers, I got about 6 garlic plants. I don't know what to do to make them the best they can be. An internet search says cut the scapes, and another says no don't. They are growing flowers already, so should I pick the flowers. I'm not sure if certain trains of thought work better in certain areas, but I am in the Vancouver area. I can't believe my luck. The soil wasn't fertilized or anything, I just put some bone meal in it when I planted the lavender. Thanks,

Some of the flowering alliums can look very similar to garlic. Are you sure it's not one of those? You might want to post some photos to be sure.

Yes, I agree with Eric. Garlic is very uncommonly grown from seeds. Usually you plant the cloves. Would be nice to see photos.
