hypericum-like plants(?)

    awesome website UBC! I hope someone on this forum can help ID the plant in the attached photos. 3 of these plants have come up this year around the rootball of an american sycamore/london plane tree planted 2 yrs ago. they remind me of hypericum hidcote except the mystery plants have rounder leaves, and often have leaves and branches in sets of 3. I would really appreciate help figuring out what they are, especially if they are invasive & need to be pulled out.

    If not another species of Hypericum perhaps a honeysuckle family plant.

    Looks like one of the shrub honeysuckles to me.

    thank you both very much! a quick search on shrub honeysuckles has me ready to do my best to get every last root out of our garden right away.
