Hello everyone, hope your all having a wonderful day. The question I have is about my hydrangea. I have had it about 3yrs now and every year it gets these brown spots on the leaves. I do not see any bugs on them. The plant gets plenty of water and gets the afternoon sun. It is growing very good and seems to love where it is at. I just hate the way the brown spots look and I know they shouldn't be there. Any info would sure be helpful. Thank you all.
It might be some disease or it could also develop from when afternoon/hot sun hits wet foliage. Try and water early in the morning to prevent this and make sure they have good air circulation. Here is a good link I would check out on different diseases. http://www.aces.edu/pubs/docs/A/ANR-1212/ANR-1212.pdf I am sure others will have thoughts as well.
Probably getting too hot and dry. Dig around in the soil and check before deciding the water applied is doing the job. Watering during the day does not cause leaf spotting or other damage. http://www.puyallup.wsu.edu/~linda chalker-scott/Horticultural Myths_files/Myths/Leaf scorch.pdf
when I do water, I never water the leaves, only the soil around the plant itself. I do water usually in afternoon or evening though. Thank you for all input and I will check out those sites.
I found exactly what I needed on this site! I need to get Fungicide for Cercospora Leaf Spot. Certainly need to water in mornings. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.
Thank you...checked out your article also. It was not a scorched leaf though. Your input was much appreciated...keep it coming!
