This poor little plant got frozen to the ground twice in April and May 2006. This is the growth this summer. I planted it last year and the colour was white. then purple, now red. I played with the Ph of the soil. After the last freezing I dug up the root ball and washed off a little, and put it back in good composted soil. Next year I wll take severe precautions, and cover it adequately when frost is around. The plant likes well drained soil with plenty of water. In fact, it cannot get too much water provided it the roots are not soggy, meaning good drainage.
