These leaves are from a whole bank of plants that face North against a house wall in Michigan. These was no sign of a flower stalk and this was mid-July. These leaves are 30-40'' wide. Any ideas? Bought this house and these things sprouted.
too big for Bergenia.. It might be Colocasia esculenta, (taro root) though.... Can you post a picture of the stems? Although, I've never seen Colocasia with a toothed margin.... Maybe also burdock, although those are small for typical burdock leaves. I'd lean more towards something in the Araceae, but once again I'd need to see the stems. edit - NOPE, I'm wrong wrong wrong about the Colocasia. But I can't shake the nagging suspicion that I know that plant!

Thanks everybody I do think you nailed . Wow what an impressive site! Glad I stumbled across it. Now I'm adding it to my favorites. Thanks again!
Here are two more pictures. Note the dollar bill in the center of the single leaf. ALthough not as lovely a green color I believe the leaves are as large. They bigger ones are 38" across.
