I would like to know how are your composts at your homes?
do they attract rats, raccoons e.t.c?
I am thinking of starting one.

We've had rats in our compost twice - once was because the compost was sitting on bare dirt (they tunnelled in from underneath). Any new composter comes with a bottom that prevents this from happening. This was an old, inherited compost.

And once we had a wire (for leaves, etc) composter up against a standard composter (kitechn scraps). Some rodent used the privacy to chew a hole through the plastic of the composter.

Keep some space around your composter (6 inches) and use the bottom screen.

Other than that, our composters are impervious to rodents - it's user error when they get in.
