My neighbour's bay tree has a few new shoots coming out at the bottom of the trunk. Is it easy to propagate these new shoots ? Most of the articles mentioned about new shoots coming out from the soil with its own roots, but these ones look like they are coming out of the trunk. How can I separate them for replanting ?

I have the same question. My young Bay Laurel is in a pot and the new shoots are a brilliant orange. Should a try to root them (and how) or let the plant grow into a bush form.

Those shoots at the bottom of the trunk look like perfect candidates for ground layering. A Web search will provide plenty of details on how to do it.
