I live in Manteca, CA and we just had about 13 nights of temps that were below 32 degrees. My Jade plant is over 27 years old and was too large to bring inside. It had been OK in prior years, but this year the frost got to it. The leaves are drooping over. The trunk seens to still be green inside and I think OK. I have heard if I cut the drooping parts off, that it may recover. Is this true? If so when should I prune it back? I also heard that I should not water it from Oct to March. Is this true? I have always watered it once per week in the past without problem and more in the summer. It is in a wine barrel container, but is so big & heavy that it took 2 men to lift it into it's present container this last spring. I hope to save it. Help please. Thank you. LindaS

That's a tough one. Don't prune until later. Actually, all the dead parts should just fall off. Assuming that the coldest of the cold has passed, then you can only wait till spring to see how much is still alive.

The only thing else I can suggest is putting some sort of tent or greenhouse around it. That seems like a lot of trouble, especially since most or all of the damage is already done.
