Hi, I have 4 overgrown cedar shrubs ( I think this is cedar). Can I cut this back? My neighbour started cutting back on his side then stopped. I’m in lower mainland.

Thuja occidentalis cultivar. As is often the case with conifers the branch stubs he has created will do little to refurnish themselves going forward. And repeatedly cutting a hedge back because it is thought to be too big, only to have it grow back to where it was each time is going in circles - especially since the neighbor has now spoiled his side the best bet would be removal and replacement with something else. Maybe even a fence.
