I have jasmine plants died off slowly when winter approached even it was relocated further away from the sunny window (south facing ). The leaves slowly dried up in groups. I watered it once every 2 -3 weeks. Anything I could have done?
the plant is woody, has fragrant small white round flower, single/double pedal.

Sounds like you were dealing with Jasminum sambac 'Maid of Orleans', Arabian Jasmine. I've managed to winter one in cool conditions (perhaps 5-10C) with mid to high humidity. Your plant may have been receiving more direct light, thus higher temperatures in the winter sun. Indoor humidity levels in winter may also have been too low for its liking.

Not sure what your soil is like, but 2-3 weeks between watering sounds a bit long. They don't like to be wet, but they don't do well if they dry out too much. I find them to be a magnet for mites, so that can be a problem. Usually they seem to come with several plants in the pot (new cuttings). Over the course of a year they seem to die one at a time. They are quite readily available at stores around here, so I just buy new ones when they "wear out".

I was surprised last year. I found a pot of Jasminum sambac outside with snow on it. It had been that way for a day. I brought it in and it has grown wonderfully.
