Hi, yesterday I planted a 3 week germinated mango seed as seen in the pic below. What special care should I follow if I want this tree to produce mango fruit? I read somewhere that I must cut the shoot sometimes but I'm not sure.Thanks.
http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/extension/homefruit/mango/mango.html i did a quick search and found this the main problem with seedlings is unless it is polyembrionic it is nto true to seed that means it will nto be true to type but thats the only way to get new varietys is from seed or mutation/sports and mangoes can take 5 to 10 years to produce and than you find out its not a good variety. if you have the room and the time to wait than go for it if nothing else you could find someone that knows how to graft and have the graft a named variety to it. i am allergic to mangoes so i have not done any work with seedlings or any of that. good luck
