Hello everyone, I have flies in my pachira acuatica for about a month, I don't know where they came from but they are also now in other of my plants like geranium and pedilanthus. To these two the flies seem to not have an effect on them but my pachira acuatica is dying little by little because is loosing many many leaves. I have added Bug clear but it doesn't work and also I did water with garlic to all the plants in the house and the 2 first times it seemed that the flies went but after a few days they came back. These flies are black little and they are mainly in the surface and the trunk of the plant, they seem like small spiders moving all around the plant pot but they are flies. I would thank you so much if you could help me.
It could be fungus gnats... the flies themselves don't cause too much damage from my experience but the larvae feed on plant roots which can reduce vigor and ultimately do your plants in. I have had great success treating with nematodes. Is there a company in your area that sells biological controls?
Thanks for your help I don't know where to buy this but I will try to find. Some friends that have seen my plant they said to me that perhaps is not dying because of the flies so I would like to show you a photo so you can better have a look and think why is that happen. Thanks a lot for your help!
