Hi, I am about to buy a new house that has a Monkey Puzzle Tree in the front garden. The Tree is very high and about three metres away from the house. It looks very healthy. Do I have cause to be alarmed? If so, is there any Monkey Puzzle enthusiasts in the United Kingdom that would like to transplant it and give it a good home. It's a beautiful tree and seems such a waste? Thanks Nikki
Hi Nikki, The roots of trees will spread beyond the drip line of the crown. If the crown of the tree (where it's widest) is 10 meters, then the roots will spread past that. Keep in mind the MATURE size. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/WO017 http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/MG089 http://www.victorialodging.com/monkey_puzzle_tree.htm Newt
