how do you grow japanese sweet potato?

    Hi
    I live in Richmond B.C and I just bought a japanese purple sweet potato.... its a big vine, I cant find out how I should grow it? I tried the internet, I asked the lady at the garden centre and she said " I dont bother with those".............

    See this Botany Photo of the Day entry from a few years ago about sweet potato trials at UBC Farm.

    Also, Westham Islands Herb Farm grew some several years ago -- might be worth stepping in there to ask (and picking up some herbs or strawberries in that area at the same time).
