I must be completely dense because I just don't get the grafting process. Here's my situation. My Mom has a bloodgood that is probably 15-20 years old. I would like to try my hand and grafting and see if I can't get a tree out of it! Here's my issue . . . can I use her tree for the scion and root stock? And what happens to her tree after I graft? How do I then get my tree off of her tree? I am totally missing the point!!! Can I take a scion from a lace leaf and graft onto the bloodgood? Please don't laugh but I am completely daft! Christy
Some info here www.bodwen-nursery.co.uk/japanesemaplespr.html .Understand 'Bloodgood' will start from cuttings and seedlings can be similar to 'Bloodgood'.
