Clearly there is no advantage in carrying out excessive hilling when growing potatoes. The purpose of hlling is to insure the tubers are covered. There are many, who dispute the evidence. One site mentions getting 200 pounds of potatoes from a built structure 4 by 4 feet, and hilled. These same people only show the building of the structure, never the harvest. One site even staged the potatoes spilled out on the ground.
