This is probably a common houseplant, but I don't know what it's called. Any help is appreciated

yes, azalea. and it's usually planted outside, not kept as a houseplant.

You do know that the "Azalea" is actually a Rhododendron, don't you?

There actually are tropical species and their hybrids that must be grown in a greenhouse (unless you live in the tropics).

My apologies. As lorax is about to point out, I misread the suggested species and would have sworn I read Philodendron! I literally get new glasses tomorrow!

A species or hybrid in the Rhododendron indicum - R. kiusianum - R. simsii group. Hundreds of cultivars, widely produced for the indoor plant trade. Subtropical; not hardy outdoors in IL.

Well, I used to know Jimmy and if you hung out around him the bar was always open! I haven't seen him in close to 20 years but I'd meet him at Sloppy Joe's in a second! Sorry I can't read any more. New glasses this afternoon!
