I've had this plant for years and it has been very hardy. It is beginning to look like it's struggling and I am thinking about repotting it.
Any information about it would be appreciated.

could be a monstera or maybe a philodendron.

if it's been more than three years, it definitely could use a repotting. maybe a larger container - at the least unpot and put it in fresh soil mix.

    it's gorgeous!

Philodendron it is. All I needed was the name to search for more info. Thank you.

I feel kinda' dumb, 'cuz I've heard that plant name so often, but never identified it with this plant. It has definitely outgrown the pot it is in (at least 5 years!) and needs to be broken up and allowed to grow big again.

well, philodendron will morph over time - so, if you have it long enough and provide proper growing conditions, within a few years it's like having a completely different plant!!

i'd wait another month or so before doing anything - it's still a bit early yet and you should wait for spring to arrive.

hey, if you're going to be splitting it rather than just repotting in something larger, could i trouble you to send a piece? i can reimburse the postage or send you something of what i have. right now that would be more outside stuff rather than inside stuff - i had problems with my heater this winter and lost almost all my aroids, so i don't have too much of them to share (still working on saving what didn't completely bite the dust with the cold they ended up in).

    Joclyn,

Sure. I just moved and this place has a big yard that needs more plants. Why don't you email me and we can chat further.
