Hi everyone. I have a houseplant that I am trying to bring "back to life". The plant was left with me when some friends moved, so I really don't know anything about it. I'd love to know what it is so that I can help it along! Anyone know what it might be? http://s907.photobucket.com/albums/ac274/kimberlyhopecakes/?action=view¤t=june09091.jpg http://s907.photobucket.com/albums/ac274/kimberlyhopecakes/?action=view¤t=june09094.jpg Unfortunately, my camera won't take any decent close-up shots. Thanks in advance! Kim
I'll try to match some online Pilea pictures to my plant. Thanks for the suggestion, Togata. I'll let you know what I find.
Some of those leaves look as though they have that off-center attachment to the petiole---makes me think Begonia. ??? I hope that we get this plant identified soon: I gotta get some sleep!
The leaves do look like Pilea cadierei. http://images.google.com/images?hl=...&q=pilea+cadierei&btnG=Search+images&aq=f&oq= See here for help. http://www.ehow.com/how_2067289_care-pilea.html I don't think that keeping one of those water reservoir balls in the pot is a good idea. It will be keeping the soil too moist.Let it dry out and water once a week.
Thanks for the correction saltcedar. Who would have thought it! Pellionia repens is in Urticaceae. The same family as the stinging nettle, Urtica dioica! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellionia_repens
Thanks so much for the help!! I got the biggest smile on my face when I googled Pellionia repens pictures and saw my plant! You guys are amazing.
I think mine is a Pellionia pulchra. http://www.amphibiancare.com/frogs/articles/images/plants/pellionia_pulchra01.jpg
Which ever plant, yours looks pretty leggy. You should pinch off a couple of ends, maybe 2 inches of stem, put them in water or potting soil to reroot, and see how they do. Your plant looks pretty leggy and this would help to revitalize the plant. barb
