Hi, I'm new to the group and did a quick search to see if anyone was into hydroculture indoors. This is something I'll be just starting out with and I'm seeking resources. I'm a bit nervous I'll kill all my plants! I didn't see much on the topic and am wondering if other people are interested (unless I missed it) I'm thinking of growing indoor vegetables as well, but I'm going to test things out on my houseplants first to get acquainted. Would this be something covered here?
Ask away, someone here will likely have advice. I only have one plant in hydroculture left. A spider plant (Chlorophytum camosum). Its in a Luwasa pot with expended clay pellets. seems pretty easy, I havent fertized it in years, just add water once in a while. http://www.luwasa.com.au/
We cover EVERYTHING here! Give a shout to The Hollyberry Lady---she does splendiferous work with indoor vegetables, and may well know something hydroculture-wise. ---In fact, I think that she posted a photo of her baby water plant (Nymphea, was it?) the other day. (It was Nelumbo nucifera. Just looked it up.)
Hi Jimmyq, you say you have one plant left, did you switch back to soil? Thanks for the welcome togata57. I will give Hollyberry Lady a shout :)
Check out www.purlec.ca for information about plants in hydroculture. I’ve delt with them several times in the past and have had good experiences with them. A very friendly company and they are a Canadian business
Nope, only had a few at any one time, between moving residences and such some got new homes. I have that one plant in Luwasa and 5 plants in modified house plant soil (added perlite for better drainage). We have limited square footage and a young man that is about to learn to walk, he likes to lash out and grab things in his vicintiy, like plant leaves, I need to move the few plants we have to the master bedroom window, at least we can close the door to that room and hope he cant enter it for a couple years. :)
