I have a lambs tail or burrows tail house plant and 2 tails are extremely long. Can I just take piece off the end of them and root it back in pot

Sure. Strip off leaves from the end of the cutting, leaving an inch or two bare. Some folks let the cutting sit for a bit before potting; some pot immediately. From what I read, sounds as if you save the leaves they will grow roots, too.

Have various sedums in my backyard, and they are easily propagated. Good luck with yours!
