I have a disease for you. This Holly is abut 12-14 yrs old. It is dying trunk by trunk. I have removed a trunk in efforts to save it. It just keeps dying. We have a twin to it and it is doing fine. The Massey people say this type of Holly only lives 10-12 yrs, is this true? Also Massey people say it has root rot. Can anyone help and can i save this bush? It has one section that still had new growth this year as you can see. I live in central Florida.
Probably they are right about the root rot. I would remove the shrub, if it is root rot there is a water mold that has gotten inside of it and is killing it.
Hollies should live a long time where a site is suitable. Blighting off like this will not be a result of the shrub's age.
