Hole and Possibly Bugs in Beautiful Tree. Help me save it!

    Hello, I moved into a house with an amazing tree.... But there is a wound at the base and I see some ants and stuff crawling in it. My landscaper said it's a cherry and will die. I don't think it's a cherry... What can I do! Ive attached photos. https://photos.app.goo.gl/xQMoyRnJdfELnXy37

    That'd be a huge cherry if it was one, but I don't think it is either (though I would need a better image of the leaves at a minimum to tell). If you can get that (and even better, a photo of the fruits), I'm sure we can identify it here.

    Since I'm guessing you are also concerned about safety, the typical process from a liability standpoint would be to bring in a consulting arborist. The International Society of Arboriculturists provides an online tool to find a certified arborist in your area: Find an Arborist . Look specifically for one with "ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification"

    Here are the pictures. I couldn't reach the branch with the fruit but included a picture I zoomed in. They are little green balls. Thank you for the information on the arborists.
