    Hello,
It has been a good year in the UK for gardening and my Himalayan Lily has flowered with a flower spike of approx. 8 feet. Does anyone know how to propagate from the seed pods? I have several plantlets showing around the base of the original bulb but it seems a shame to waste the ripening seeds if they are viable.

Maggie, view this thread for information about growing Cardiocrinum giganteum from seed.

I also have a giant lily and have been told by the nursery to take the seed pods off the plant when they become "papery". The seeds can be planted but the plants will take 7 years to bloom. As for the small off shoots, these can be taken after the plant dies down or as the plant starts growing. I am told that you just dig up the shoots and seperate the babies. I am going to try this for the first time this fall, I will keep the small plants in the garage for the winter and planr out in the spring.
