Please help - my hibuscus is flowering profusely but the leaves are being eaten up at a very fast rate - they appear like a pattern has been etched on them - what should I spray?

    Thanks,

look for ants or caterpillars. You can pick them of if its caterpillars, or go for the big bad sprays.

    Thanks for your response.

Which bug spray can I use - so that I don't harm my plants?

    Thanks,
    PK

Consider a dilute plant oil spray made for plants or an insecticidal soap available at your local nursery. Better for both the plant and the environment since they disappear quickly. But they will do the job!

For such things, Malithion is often used, but it will quite likely harm Hibiscus ,in particular. Don't use it!

i am having the same problem. a small black flying bug with a small dot of orange on its back has eaten all the leaves before my hibuscus has had a chance to bloom. the bare stalks are starting to grow new leaves and i want to protect the new leaves. i will check at the nursery for the soap or oil that was suggested
