I have a home in Mexico as well as Victoria. In Mexico I rescued a Hibiscus schizopetalus and planted it in the ground. I bloomed very prolifically for two years. This year it has grown to 10 ft. and is very healthy. However, I do not get any blooms. Any ideas how I can get this plant to bloom. I do prune it and it comes back very quickly, but again, no blooms. Would appreciate any advice. By the way I am in Puerto Vallarta area.

    Thanks.

I don't know much about growing Hibiscus schizopetalus but a quick search on the Net brings me info that flowers occur on short branchlets from previous season’s growth. This means it can't bloom if that growth is removed by pruning.
