I recently brought a planted hibiscus in for the winter, the leaves all fell off, now some are starting to come back however they are turning yellow and falling right back off. Also the flowers had a black seed like fungus how do I help my plant and does anyone know what the black seed like things are?
Plants that have been outside shed leaves when brought inside because it is so much darker indoors, unless these are placed in a bright window or greenhouse. Otherwise, excessive dropping of older leaves is commonly due to adverse conditions in the rooting area, such as too dry or too wet. If this is a tropical hibiscus these can be troublesome as house plants, try searching the internet for "hibiscus care" and similar phrases - discussions about this specifically have been available in the past. When summering house plants outdoors it is preferable to not put them out until temperatures inside and out are as similar as possible, likewise these should be brought in again before it cools off. And a clean, elevated surface, offering minimized opportunity for ground pests like slugs, snails or root weevils should be chosen to house them during their vacation. Since there is an exposure to sudden changes in growing conditions each time house plants go out or come back in, and there are bugs and blights out there they can pick up, there is a definite case for keeping them inside all of the time.
