This rather spindly vine is in several places in my yard in Charleston, SC. I have never seen this flower in my life. The house was previously owned by a master gardener from New Zealand who had access to plants from one of the historical English plantation gardens here. I am trying to find out what plant this is and how to care for it. The flowers are the most beautiful I have seen. THe flower is white with a purple/chocolate pattern and a purple area near center. Looks similar to this picture of Aristolochia elegans. Here's some more photos. Also called Dutchman's pipe. Like the rustic gate, but now you have to jump the fence to save the flower. :) Harry
Thanks for identifying it. I never thought of the fence as rustic, just old and past due for replacement. Maybe now I can take it off my to do list!
