Hello, I joined after trying to find a photo of a plant and not succeeding. I have a few questions... When a plant is successfully identified in the thread, is it moved somewhere searchable? Or, do I have to read every entry, one by one? I guess what I mean is HELP! :D Also, I have lots of pictures of plants, is there a way to submit them to be used somewhere? Thanks, G
Hello Georgie, Threads are not moved after ID. The Forums have a Search Function on the green bar at the top of the page. You can use that to find threads on a particular topic. Each individual forum also has a Search Function (on the right side of the page.) You can search the Plant ID forum for the plant names you wish to find. There are also photos from UBC Botancal Garden and photos of plants in the individual forums for various types of plants like Roses or Magnolias. The Maple Forum has a Maple Photo Gallery, which has a subforum for Acer palmatum cultivars. These two areas have been set up in alphabetic order with a thread for each taxon. Photos of a maple that already has a thread are added to that thread. If you want to post photos, the Photography and Art forum is the place. Here is the "How To" page for uploading photos: http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=725 Let me know if you have any questions.
I know all about posting, so thanks. Also, I wanted to post my pictures to help identification, not as art. I found it very hard to locate totally unfamiliar plants, very few picture searches are available.
