Well, I'm from Croydon, a southern suburb of London, originally. But that's not something to boast about, since throughout Great Britain, Croydon is almost a byword for concrete tedium. My garden is a small one -- it consists principally of my kitchen window ledge and large leafy thing in the bathroom. But what I lack in area, I compensate for in enthusiasm. I was first attracted to cacti in my early teens, and expanded my collection to quite a substantial one until I discovered beer and girls. After that, I cruelly neglected them until they all long ago quit this cruel earth for the great desert in the sky ("Ah!" you say, "But don't cacti thrive on neglect?" Yes, but clearly not that much neglect!). Now I'm forty and sedately married, and I bought myself a new collection of cacti and succulents, which is slowly expanding. My favourite is my saguaros, which I'm growing from seeds that I smuggled back here from Utah last year. Eventually, I hope, they'll reach about thirty feet tall and will need a house all to themselves. But right now, the biggest and fattest of them is about an inch tall, so that'll be my kids' headache. In more mundane matters, I'm a student following a Masters' programme at "Prifysgol Morgannwg" (the University of Glamorgan) in Tom Jones' home town of Trefforest, near Pontypridd, Wales. I like reading books that make me look intelligent. And I have a charming wife (a souvenir of a time I spent in Idaho), who pays no attention at all to my eccentricities, bless her.
G'day Jack and welcome to the forum. Good to see you are passionate about Cacti. Yesterday I just put in a cactus and succulent garden for my wife, might post a pic when I get home from work this arvo... Enjoy Ed
