    Hi there,

I moved into a place and inherited these plants. Can someone help me figure out what they are? I'm thinking of getting rid of the tall 'ugly' one (#3) as well as the messy looking bushy one (#4)...

    Please let me know. Tks

    1. Centaurea, aka Cornflower.
    2. Lamprocampnos spectabilis, aka Bleeding Hearts
    3. ??? Reminds me of Mullein.
    4. You've got more than one plant in there; the one you want to get rid of is probably a Vicia (Vetch), but I'm also seeing Gnaphalium/Helichrysum and a couple of other weeds to boot.

I doubt it's Vicia - not a single pinnate leaf seen here. The infllorescence of verticillaster type suggests some sage or maybe a Penstemon - the tall purple flowers have three-lobed lower petals. Most probably, both plants are present here.

Wow, you guys are great. Really appreciate the help!

Some feedback based on your answers:

    1. The cornflower is actually a relative known as "Centaurea montana" according to Wikipedia. It's a perennial so I'm assuming that's accurate since cornflower is an annual

    3. It must be 'mullein'.

    4. The plant I have more closely resembles lavender.

    Thank you very much!!!
