Herbaceous plant with rusty red-coloured flower stalks

    Plant@net is giving me 2.6% likelihood that this is Gaura lindheimeri, which now seems to be Oenothera lindheimeri. Of course flowers would help, but it looks like I've missed them, or maybe what's on these stalks are from last year and if Gaura, it will bloom in the summer. It gives 1% higher likelihood that it's Lobelia cardinalis, but I think that looks less likely. Is it Gaura, or something else?

    Thanks, Ron. Do you mean it looks dead, or just that it's now Oenothera? Of all the Gaura I looked up, O. lindheimeri looked most similar. Are you hedging on the species because others are in the running?
