I live in coastal California, and I have a few small redwood trees planted by the previous property owner--trunks about as thick as your finger. Yesterday, my goats got out and stripped most of the bark from one of the trees. Anything I can do about that? Many thanks!

If it's right down to the hard wood, you'll have no cambium. I've seen Maples last another season without their bark. Living on stored energy. Basically though, no bark equals no life.

It's not like you can get a butt bark transplant.
