Hi I have a tree in my yard , its about 30-35 feet tall , it has leaves that are about 8-10" long and they are 5 to a stem and 3 are grouped at the end . I am new , I am going to try to post a pic of the leaf and one of a nut that fell from the tree . Nuts higher up in the tree are 1 1/2" -2" . the leaves and nuts lower in the tree are slightly smaller . I think it is similar to a beech but the nuts don't quite match. and I think stems on a beech tree have more leaves if I remember correctly. The bark is smooth , and the branches are spaced out from one another . I have additional pics , but due to MGs I am only going to try 2 pics. Thanks Bob
Hi Thanks for your input , another member suggested that it might be a pignut hickory , and after looking at 3 websites on a pignut hickory , I think we have it ! I'm pretty sure thats what we have . It fits for zone, nut description, leaf , stem and bark . Thanks very much for your help !
