Help..all of my 62 years I have been under the impression that this plant was a "Night Blooming Jasmine" according to our family tradition. It as been passed down for severla generations and I think it needs an "educated" opinion or so.

It produces a small white cluster of flowers in Spring thru Summer that are about 1" to 1-1/4" in diameter in groups of one to four flowers. Leaves are dark green, slighlty crinkled and about 3" long by 1-1/2" wide and a bit thick and shiney.

The smell is like perfume and jasmine and you can smell the 8' bush 20' downwind or more.

Please help and if you need more pictures (I wish I could post the smell) let me know.

In British Columbia, this jasmine is grown indoors. The plant in the photo looks to me to be a jasmine to me.

Jasminum sambac, possibly 'Grand Duke of Tuscany'

Looks sort of like a Gardenia.

Re: I Believe You Are Correct!

I am doing some research which proves difficlut at this time. The plant is stressed at the moment as it took a beating from Hurricane Ike which hit here in September and we have not had much rain. I am happy to find that my father was on the right track with "Jasmine". To my untrained eye, I believe it to be the "Grand Duke" variety aslo as it has multiple flowers, rounded leaves in pairs on the stem, would climb if we let it and although the flowers are a bit thin at the moment the look of the flowers has changed a bit this season.

Thank you for sharing your assistance and knowledge. I await further comments and hope some day I can return the favor.

Yes, it definitely looks like Jasminum sambac.
