In The Garden: Help with this "vine" with "beans"

    My brother in Montreal found this growing down the side of his house.
    Is it just a "volunteer" edible bean?

    Could be something from Apocinaceae. Check Cynanchum rossicum, for example.
    Look inside the pod. I bet, it has hairy seeds. Hardly edible, some may be toxic.

    Thank you! Yes, "Pale swallow-wort" looks exactly like it!!!

    I'll ask him to open a pod and check the seeds....and wash his hands. :-)
