The seeds are originally from Columbia, and were thought to have been Guabanana. The seeds that were planted were larger rounded more flat that round seeds a little smaller in diameter than a dime. Then these guys poped up. They strongly resemble (from personal observation) that of a mexican petunia with smaller yellow flowers. The seeds that open very strongly resemble the mexican petunia, in a long slender sleeve/rod like pod that opens releasing many many tiny seeds. Once planted, these have no problem reproducing many plants from the numerous amount of seeds that drop. Any ideas on what this plant actually is would be greatly appreciated. The plant gets much taller and lengthier than fuller (again like a Mexican petunia) some that have grown have somewhat crowned out with multiple auxiliary stems protruding out, but for the most part they grow skinny, tall and slender, topping out (in 3 gallon pots) around 4 - 5 feet tall and maybe a foot or two in circumference. Flowers are no larger than a nickel, pods are a little fatter but about same length as a finishing nail. When pods pop open they open lengthwise from the middle rather than one end of the pod opening. Hope this helps, thanks for any ideas guys.
Thank you so much Daniel! (my name too!) You were spot on. Ludwigia decurrens. Winged or Willow Primrose (Winged due to the distinctive 4 wings through stem) Thank you so much for your help, never ceases to amaze me the more I learn the less I realize I know.
