Hi, I am looking for advice on fertilizing my sago palm...the leaves are starting to turn yellow and I have a feeling it is from lack of nutrients... Is there any specific brand recommended ? or any idea where in Vancouver I could buy specialty fertilizer for sago palms... Thank you.
Try contacting the Pacific Northwest Palm & Exotic Plant Society (PNWP&EPS) for information (located here in Vancouver) http://www.hardypalm.com/
Most nurseries carry a palm and cycad fertilizer. You can also make your own organic fertilizer (see recipes on my web site under "Cycad Care"). Cycads like a 3-1-3 ratio of nutrients. The yellowing leaves may just be old leaves dying off; they don't last forever. You will most likely get a new flush of leaves in the spring.
