I have a plant in my vegitable garden I can't ID. It has 2in serated leaves.small yellow flowers and green chinese lantern type bulbs with small berry inside. I am assuming it is some type of weed since I did not plant it but it seems interesting so I haven't pulled it out yet. Does anyone know what type plant it is. I have had no luck trying to ID over the internet. Thanks much

Sounds like Physalis peruviana or a close relative, common name Ground Cherry. If you can post pics, we can narrow the ID down and tell you whether it's an edible or simply an ornamental.

Weeds are in the eye of the beholder; I live in the native range of these plants and curse them for their tendency to try and overrun my flower beds, but the fruit is also quite tasty and many people grow them for that reason.

Thanks so much. After reviewing pictures of the ground cherry I am sure that it is just that.
