    Hi,
We have an indoor tree that we really like, but we have not been able to keep it healthy. It grew well initially, but then started losing all of its new foliage. We've tried increasing and decreasing the amount of water, and varying the amount of sun it gets. Any help with identifying it or recommendations for its care would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what it is, but it might be rootbound or have soil packed onto its roots. Neither condition is really ideal, regardless of species. You might want to re-pot it into something larger with good drainage holes at the bottom, like unglazed clay; if the roots are packed with soil try amending your soil mix with coir or peat to make it less muddy.

Thank you, Lorax. We will re-pot it as soon as we can.

    SaltCedar,

I believe you have found it. Can't be entirely certain, but it looks like the Polyscia variety called 'Ruffles'. Thanks so much for the name and the link! It sounds like we may need to re-pot with new soil, but perhaps not in a larger size pot. And quite possibly we have over-fed it since it started looking poorly.

    Thanks again.
