I recently bought a package of Comander and Chief lilly bulbs. Im not even sure if that is the real name or not. It came with 6 bulbs and they were all nice and plump and healthy, most even were already growing about 3 inches. i planted 5 bulbs in a 12 inch plastic pot all spaced evenly. For the most part i followed all the instructions on the package. When i watered it it said to water untill water came out of the drainage holes. well i put about a gallon of water in it and it still didnt come out and i just figured that it was enough water. now the top inch of soil is dry but under it it is really hard and wet. Will this harm the bulbs. One plant has came throught the ground about .5 inches but the other ones are no where to be seen. Can anyone teach me how to water my bulbs.

    Thank you

The pot you used maybe a little bit too big for the bulbs, the need to grow roots before you will see any growth out of the top. The hard soil may be preventing the bulbs to grow proper roots, you may want to try a smaller pot with a differnt/lighter potting medium. The bulbs will need quite a bit of water, let the top portion of the mix dry out a bit before you water again.
