help with identifying this small tree or shrub

    I found this growing along a drainage ditch. It is about 10 feet tall. It is the first time I have seen blooms like this. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks for your help.

    Thanks David. That is exactly what it is! I am so excited. It is such a showy bush with its beautiful flowers.
