Help with ID of volunteer plant in Chilliwack

    A friend of mine has discovered that this very-fast growing plant has a strong, nice fragrance. It is now about 6'6", with very soft fuzz on the plant.

    You have a young Empress Tree (Paulownia tomentosa).

    Not a bad looking tree but can be a 'bit invasive' in some climates. It should be no surprise to you now why this tree is popular as a plantation tree in sub-tropical climates.

    And not growing in a very suitable position there! If you let it carry on, it'll demolish that patio.
